Asking good questions
How to frame a question so Ellen can actually teach you something.
Vague questions get vague help. Tell Ellen what you tried, where you got stuck, and what the answer is supposed to look like — she can teach from that.
Patterns that work
- "Walk me through why this step works — don't just give me the answer."
- "I got X but the answer is Y. Where did I go wrong?"
- "Quiz me on confidence intervals."
- "Make a flashcard deck from what we just covered."
- "Is my argument here actually sound? Push back on it."
Ask for the process, not the product
Ellen won't write or outline your essay, so don't spend credits asking. What works instead: "Help me figure out what I actually think about this reading." She'll ask the questions that draw your ideas out, then give honest feedback on what you write.
